Do you ever go to someone’s house and eat something you can’t get enough of? And it’s there every birthday party or celebration?!
That’d be Nana Jackie’s to die for sugar cookies!! Soft sugar cookie in the shape of dinosaurs, fish, dogs, or ghosts, and topped with yummy colorful sprinkles! Guaranteed not to eat anything else that day! They are soooo good!

And bless her heart, time and time again she offered to make some for Punk’s birthday parties. I finally took her up on the offer this last year (as in 5 months ago). But instead of having her make them I asked her to come over and teach me her secrets. Now her famous sugar cookies are going to be a staple at holiday and celebration!

cut-in-baking

Cut in’ means working solid shortening into dry ingredients with two knives or a pastry blender until well mixed. When making a pastry, solid shortening, lard, or butter is cut in to a flour mixture until the particles are the size of small peas. -Found on google.

Add vanilla and eggs, mix well. Chill dough.
Roll dough thin on a floured surface and cut with cookie cutters as desired.
Can sprinkle with decorations before baking, or bake and frost later.
Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes, just until a light golden brown on bottom.
